KEEP YOUR PITTA BALANCED
Summer is the time when your Pitta naturally gets high because of the hot weather. Not to get an aggravation it is important to follow Pitta pacifying diet and lifestyle regimens.
By doing that you can prevent inflammation, heartburns, stomach and intestinal ulcers, liver intoxication, skin rashes, eczema and acne.
DIET during the summer should include :
- Sweet fruits and berries: apples, avocados, figs, melons, mangos, pomegranate, pears, watermelon.
- Coconut water, milk, cream, oil or just coconut by itself
- Sweet and bitter veggies: squashes, zucchini, cucumbers, dark leafy greens, cabbage, asparagus, celery, cauliflower (well cooked)
- Dairy: kefir, ghee, milk in small quantities (better to substitute with coconut milk)
- Eggs & Meat: eggs are fine, chicken is ok in small quantities.
- Most of the grains and legumes are fine.
- Use cooling spices such as cardamom and coriander.
AVIOD:
- Sour fruits or berries
- Root vegetables and nightshades
- Spicy, sour and salty foods
- Fermented foods
- Alcohol
- Coffee (especially on empty stomach), black tea
- Red meat and fish
LIFESTYLE:
- Go to sleep before 10-10.30 pm
- Do shitali breathing practice on regular basis (just search on youtube. It’s really easy)
- Keep rosewater handy and spray on your face couple times a day
- Exercise early in the morning. Avoid working out from 11 am till 6 pm
- Drink plenty of room temperature water
